Attention TropMed16 Attendees: An unauthorized website (above) offering to book hotel rooms for the 2016 Annual Meeting is showing up at the top of Google searches via a paid Google ad.
Please do not give any information to this website, including your passport number and/or ID. ASTMH will never ask you for such personal information.
Members also said that unauthorized third parties are contacting previous attendees and offering discounted hotel rooms. These solicitations ask for credit card information and have resulted in fraudulent charges. In some cases, callers have been belligerent. Please hang up on these calls.
"They were quite rude and aggressive on the phone," said one member. "I asked who they were and who they worked for and they refused to say, of course. They hung up in frustration after getting no information from me."
ASTMH.org is the only authorized place to register for the Annual Meeting and search for housing.
We worked diligently with the hotels in Atlanta to establish room blocks for attendees and exhibitors. Improper solicitation of hotel reservations from any company or housing provider other than ASTMH is not approved by the Society.
