The issue of emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases, especially those related to viruses, has become an increasingly focal area of concern in public health. With the current globalization which has resulted into ease and frequency of travel around the world, living in increasingly densely populated areas, coming into closer contact with wild animals, the potential for infectious diseases to spread rapidly and causing a global epidemic is a major concern.
