Nominate a Woman Leader in TropMed

Posted 7 February 2017

FemaleLeaderMedal.JPGThrough the unanimous support of its Council, ASTMH at its November Annual Meeting in Baltimore will launch a new Society-level medal named for a female leader in tropical medicine. We are writing to ask for your ideas of an iconic woman in tropical medicine whose name will be honored by this medal.

We invite you to offer your nomination(s) of a woman leader, living or deceased, whom you believe has been a leading international figure in tropical medicine:
–  In 300 words or less, tell us why you are suggesting her and how she impacted tropical medicine.
–  You may nominate more than one candidate.

Please note: Those awarded this Society-level medal will not have to share the particular focus of the namesake.

All nominations received by February 27, 2017 will be considered. The namesake of this new medal (awarded annually) will be announced later this year. If the medal namesake is living, she will be the first recipient and will be presented with the medal during the Annual Meeting in Baltimore, MD (November 5-9, 2017). If the namesake is deceased, a call for nominations for the first awardee will be distributed in early summer.
