PUBLICATIONS
- The Society publishes the monthly American Journal of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, one of the most widely distributed journals of its type in the world. Its wide geographic distribution, broad technical coverage and prompt publication policy make it a favored medium for communicating new findings in the area of tropical medicine.
- Tropical Medicine and Hygiene News is published bi-monthly and reviews current activities of the Society, available positions, funding opportunities and other topics of interest to the membership.
- Another Society publication is Health Hints for the Tropics. This booklet is a useful and authoritative source of information for the traveler going on vacation or business trips, longer-term residents in tropical areas and for organizations sending people abroad.
Medical practitioners responsible for advising travelers to the tropics have provided Health Hints to their patients as a general guide to staying healthy through the knowledge and application of clinical principles, preventive sanitation and common sense.
COMMITTEES
Through participation on committees, members have a role in implementing Society policy and setting the course for Society activities. Committee work affords scientists and other health-care professionals the opportunity to help impact the direction of the tropical medicine and hygiene field.
