The American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (ASTMH), founded in 1903, is a worldwide organization of scientists, clinicians, and program professionals whose mission is to promote global health through the prevention and control of infectious and other diseases that disproportionately afflict the global poor. ASTMH also distributes competitive Travel Awards to support attendance
at the the Annual Meeting, as well as a Young Investigator Program and
Awards, career development sessions, sessions on how to write
manuscripts or grants and give presentations, and social events for
trainees. ASTMH also provides a forum for trainees to meet and
interact with leaders in the field and to identify and work with
potential mentors.
