Advocacy
The American Society
of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (ASTMH) — the nation’s
leading professional organization for tropical medicine —
represents 3,700 researchers and clinicians engaged in the battle
against infectious and tropical disease in the United States and
internationally. ASTMH promotes global health through research and
education to prevent and control tropical diseases.
Leadership Group
As part of the society’s efforts, the ASTMH Policy and Advocacy
Leadership Group advocates implementation and funding of federal
policies and programs that seek to reduce, prevent, and control myriad
infectious tropical diseases, including, but not limited to, malaria,
Dengue fever, Ebola, cholera, and tuberculosis.

Labor,
Health & Human Services, and Education FY 2010 Appropriations
Tropical Medicine Research and Development Issue Brief
ASTMH supports and encourages Congress and the Administration to
expand FY 2010 funding for – and commitments to – malaria
control initiatives funded within the Labor, Health & Human
Services, and Education (LHHS) Appropriations bill that support research
and public health activities related to the prevention, treatment, and
eradication of malaria domestically and internationally.

military, and international malaria control initiatives.
